Recommendations from my travels!
Featured this month: Barcelona!
Cafes & Restaurants
Barcelona:
– Touristy – Las Ramblas street – giant street downtown that is tourist
central. Everything from Macdonalds to Falafal hut. 3 different metro stops for
access.
– Just off a street there is amazing Indian food!
– Pallea and Sangria galore
– Most restaurants open till 4 pm then shut till 8pm and open till 12 for
dinner. Typical dinner time is 9-10 pm. So plan your eating well.
Shopping
Mare Magnum – on the docks past end of Las Ramblas and the Columbus
Statue. Huge selection and nice restos with amazing seafood.
Bars & Lounges
Barcelona:
Razzmataz (http://www.salarazzmatazz.com) – BCN largest club. 5 rooms, decent drinks prices and a famous awesome experience. Smething 4 everyone. Hotel Arts Metro Station
Otto Zutz Barcelona (http://www.ottozutz.es) – cosy with sick music and nice style.
Mayura – small indian lounge with amazing drinks and ambiance.
Kahala Hawiian Bar – simply the best place on Earth. Avinguda Diagonal 537, Maria Cristina Metro (L3)
Icebarcelona – exactly as it sounds. Ice bar on the the beachside. Frm +30 to -8. Yahoo. ( Port Olimpic Metro) http://www.icebarcelona.com – Barceloneta beach
Tourist & Seasonal activities
Barcelona:
The beach – all along the coast from docks there are public beaches.
If you get out at barceloneta metro station, u will find many there
with bars everywhere! Topless beaches are cmn in BCN.
Sagrada Familla – even if u dnt go inside this thing it’s still an
incredible site.
Parc Guell – really beautiful park with the famous ceramic tiles of
gaudi. Must see.
Mont Juc – site aquatics for 92 olympics. Take gondolas or “funicular”
up to top with old fort and nice shots of dwntwn and the harbour.
Tibidabo – “top” of metro system is a beauty spot for a great view of
all of BCN.
Wine tours – recommended 2 me by Bob Thirsk, so I give 2 u. Torres
winery – amazing wines and good learning experience. Takes 3/4 of a
day though.
Transportation
Barcelona:
Metro system – open till 0130 daily and 24 hrs on Saturday I think.
Most of the time just take the night out at clubs and catch metro when
it restarts at 0530. Very accesible to get anywhere with exception of
airports.
Taxis are alright for late night travel. Not 2 pricy .
